The Philadelphia Orchestra tickets

Under the autumn sky of September 18, classics from the turn of the 20th century will be revisited in “Yannick Conducts Mahler and Debussy” with the Philadelphia Orchestra! The Mann Center opens the curtains of its TD Pavilion for the final installment of the orchestra’s summer residency, which serves as a prelude to the upcoming 2024-2025 season.

Attend this wondrous event and experience a riveting concert led by GRAMMY Award-winning music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Inspired by a saga of passion and princehood, Gustav Mahler’s “Symphony No. 1” (Titan) will propel the evening in evocative bursts, going through four movements that melodiously paint nature’s image and epics.

Next, Yannick and company will perform Claude Debussy’s world-renowned “La Mer,” breathing life into a stunningly symphonic impersonation of the sea, its watery visage at dawn, between waves, and against winds. Reservations to the show are now open. Click the link above to book yours today.

Behold the breathtaking prelude to the Philadelphia Orchestra’s 125th season of celebrating the transformative power of classical music! On September 18th, a Wednesday evening of early autumn, “Yannick Conducts Mahler and Debussy” will conclude the ensemble’s prestigious 2024 residency at the Mann’s, where the final wisps of summer waft through the open air of its first-class TD Pavilion.

GRAMMY Award-winning Music and Artistic Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin will command the podium once more, conducting the exalted Philadelphia Orchestra on two perennial works from the turn of the 20th century. Their first offering, Gustav Mahler’s “Titan” Symphony No. 1, will transport audiences into a sprawling musical epic inspired by the tale of an ambitious youth’s ascent into princehood. It bursts with emotion. Revels in its vivid imagery of nature in a four-movement tribute to Mahler’s immortalized ideal of how a symphony “must embrace everything.”

Impressionist waves will echo next across our venue as the orchestra performs “La Mer.” A composition in three symphonic sketches, this piece by Claude Debussy fosters pleasure in its portrayal of a sea at dawn. Tides play in animated succession, parting into a dangerous dialogue between water and wind, so loved by our esteemed conductor.

Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin is lauded on the global stage for his meteoric rise in the early 21st century, establishing a unique reputation for orchestral and operatic vibrancy in his many tenures. He won for three consecutive years since 2022 at the Annual GRAMMY Awards, tallying four total wins, including two Best Opera Recordings, one Best Classical Solo Vocal Album, and a Best Orchestral Performance shared with the Philadelphia Orchestra. The instrumental ensemble is an acclaimed member of the “Big Five” — a title coined in the late 1950s for the elite league of American orchestras that spearheaded the nation in musical excellence. To this day, they are among the finest to have graced the stage; hear them at the climactic closure of their summer installment.

The forthcoming occasion is part of the Mann’s “Summer Picnic Series,” allowing audiences to enjoy their home-brought delicacies on the TD Pavilion’s open field. This quintessential outdoor concert experience features a backdrop of lush greenery, excellent acoustics, and a spectacular view of the city’s skyline. Book your seats soon for “Yannick Conducts Mahler and Debussy” with the Philadelphia Orchestra live on September 18th, 2024.
